Abstract

This galaxy is based on a random galaxy generated on 19BEB01. It has been heavily modified
for the Hyperion patch and designed to provide an interesting scenario for multi-player games.
The galaxy has also been designed for beginner through expert players. Single
player games should be okay, but if you want more of a challenge then download
either the Corinthian Galaxy or Soren Scenario.

Galaxy Information

The sides were designed with the personalities listed below, and each side's starting
units are heavily influenced by these role-playing aspects. Keep this in mind if you wish
to role play a particular side.

Li Halan - Holy men and fanatics, devout followers of the Church
Hazat - Barbarians, might is right and only the strong will survive
Decados - Spies, stealth and covert operations are the way of life
Hawkwood - Knights, special and elite forces ensure the safety of the people
al-Malik - Traders and businessmen, strong business ties with the League

Each side also starts out being spread out amongst 5 planets (their homeworld, Byzantium II,
and 3 other worlds) with only Li Halan and Decados sharing a planet. They also start with a
plentitude of Engineers to help expand their influence quickly. Of a House's 3 additional
worlds, each starts out with units located on an island with a starting Fort so that they
are somewhat protected from the Rebel factions indigenous to that particular planet. Capturing
all the cities on these additional worlds will be quite challenging, even for expert players.

On Byzantium Secundus, each House finds themselves in the possession of an ancient University
from the days of the 2nd Republic. Also the Ministries have a strong presense there as well as
the Imperial Guard. Each Ministry also has their own homeworld with the Stigmata Garrison
having a significant amount of troops to protect against the Symbiot Hordes. Each Ministry also
has a starting Flagship, with the Stigmata Garrison's at 100% Health while the Imperial Eye's
and Imperial Fleet's Flagships start the game at 1% Health. This means that if the Ministries
are assigned after the first election, that they will only be 1/5 as effective (i.e. @21%
Health) until the controlling House can land them in a city for repairs. If the Ministries
are not assigned for the first 5 elections, then they will be at 100% Health by turn 51.

To play this Galaxy, simply extract this file into your EFS directory, backup your original
GALAXY.GAL file and rename this one to GALAXY.GAL and away you go!

Creation Information

This is the first major map I've created using Mitchell Baldwin's Editor to perform large
amounts of unit swapping and structure editing. The original EFS Editor was used to create
the random galaxy pattern and the planet surfaces. From that point on, the bulk of the editing
has been done in Mitchell's EFS Editor, using global unit swapping functions to aid in setting
side loyalties, starting units, etc.
